RE: PERSONAL INJURY LAW FIRM, THE CHANDLER LAW GROUP,
SPONSORS SAFE RIDE HOME CAMPAIGN FOR
TWENTY-TWO CONSECUTIVE YEARS
For twenty-two consecutive years, the personal injury law firm, The Chandler Law Group, has offered a free Safe Ride Home to members of our community who have been drinking alcohol and should not be driving. The law firm has spent over $1 million dollars providing 90,000 Safe Rides Home since the program began in 1990.
From December 20th, through New Year’s Day, anyone needing a Safe Ride Home should call, Yellow Cab in Charlottesville at 295-4131, City Cab in Staunton at 886-3471, Al’s Cab in Waynesboro at 949-8245; Taxi USA in Winchester at 662-1199’ and Elwood’s Cab and Plaza Cab in Front Royal at 631-1306 and ask for a Safe Ride Home and the law firm will pay the cab fare within a 10 mile radius of the city.
The purpose of the Safe Ride Home campaign is to make the holiday season a safer one for the community. Since its beginning in 1990, the law firm has provided approximately 90,000 Safe Rides Home thus lowering the number of impaired drivers on the road.
Brad Chandler, Senior Partner of The Chandler Law Group, states that, "We feel it is important to do our part to wish everyone in our community a happy holiday season by making it a safer one. We want people to know there is always a Safe Ride Home."
Not all callers are legally drunk. "Even one drink might impair someone’s judgment," Chandler notes, "We’re not interested in legal definitions when it comes to preventing drinking and driving. Our goal is to make it easy for people who have had any alcohol at all to find another way home."
Chandler attributes much of the success of the Safe Ride Home campaign to the community wide involvement; "Because of the cab companies who take the riders home, the local businesses who hang our posters, the media who help to advertise and the area policemen who educate the public about the program, the Safe Ride Home campaign has continued to grow throughout its twenty-one years."
To receive a Safe Ride Home, callers must call a participating cab company and mention either The Chandler Law Group or the Safe Ride Home campaign. A Safe Ride Home is exactly that, a Safe Ride Home. The law firm will NOT pay cab fares to another bar or restaurant type establishment.
Posters will be displayed in local businesses to remind everyone not to drink and drive; instead, call a cab and The Chandler Law Group will pay the tab for a Safe Ride Home.
Started in Charlottesville, where The Chandler Law Group is headquartered, the Safe Ride Home program now extends to cities throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, including: Charlottesville, Staunton, Waynesboro, Winchester, and Front Royal.
The Chandler Law Group, which Chandler co-founded as Chandler Franklin & O’Bryan in 1982, has grown to encompass 9 offices in Virginia and 11 associate offices in Central and South America.
