Two Die In Fredericksburg Car Accidents; Reckless Driving Involved

Frederiksberg Police responded to two serious car accidents in the area over the Thanksgiving holiday, one in Orange County and the other in Spotsylvania County.

In the first car accident, which occurred in Orange, Virginia on Saturday evening lead to the death of 71-year-old Robert Davis of Rapidan, VA. According to police, driver 20-year-old Daris Wallner cross the double yellow centerline on State Route 20 a few minutes after 5 PM and ran head-on into the car driven by Rapidan. Wallner and Rapidan’s wife, 75-year-old Jean Davies, were rushed to Mary Washington Hospital with serious injuries. Rapidan was also taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Everyone involved in the accident was wearing their seat belt. Police are unsure of why Wallner crossed the centerline and say that the accident is under investigation.

The second Fredericksburg-area car accident took place in Spotsylvania and resulted in the death of 13-year-old Jamie Lynn Dickens. The young girl was riding in the back of her family van and wearing a seat belt when the vehicle was struck from behind by a pickup truck on I-81 in Southwest Virginia. The car accident took place when the speeding pickup truck could not stop fast enough for stopped traffic on the interstate and lost control of her vehicle. The woman, who was from out of state, was charged with reckless driving.

The little girl was rushed to New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, Virginia, where she died from the injuries she sustained in the accident.
